Chhattisgarh Forest Dept. signs agreement with two paper mills

Forest and Climate Change Department, Government of Chhattisgarh signed an agreement with two paper mills M/s. Orient paper and Industries Limited, Amlai Madhya Pradesh and ITC Limited, PSPD Bhadrachalam Andhra Pradesh for the supply of Nilgiri saplings (Eucalyptus clones) and Buy Back Mechanism under ‘Mukhya Mantri Vriksha Sampada Yojana’ at the office of Principal Chief Conservator of Forest (PCCF) Aranya Bhawan, Nava Raipur recently.

Principal Chief Conservator of Forest (PCCF) V Sreenivas Rao signed on the agreement on behalf of the Forest and Climate Change Department. Vice President of ITC Ltd, PSPD Bhadrachalam Andhra Pradesh Sunil Pandey and Vice President of Orient Paper Mill Amlai Madhya Pradesh Ajay Niyoding signed on the agreement on behalf of their companies.

ITC Ltd, PSPD Bhadrachalam Andhra Pradesh will supply Eucalyptus clones to Bastar and Kanker Forest circles while Orient Paper mill Amalai Madhya Pradesh will supply Eucalyptus clones to Surguja and Bastar forest circles. Chhattisgarh State Seed and Agriculture Development Corporation Limited will Supply Eucalyptus clones to Raipur and Drug forest circles.

It has been targeted to plant 1,86,14,000 clonal nilgiri saplings in 22,000 acres of private land for FY 2023-24 under ‘Vriksha Sampada Yojana.’ The purpose is to enhance additional income of farmers. Wood based industries are being promoted under this scheme.
