Nippon Paper Industries Co., Ltd. Obtains Eco Rail Mark Certification for its Product, Patent-coated Board

Continuing to build a logistics system with lower environmental impact by bolstering efforts toward modal shift.

Eco Rail Mark is a certification scheme established by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) and operated by the Railway Freight Association. It applies to companies and the products of companies which make use of rail freight transportation, which generates lower unit CO2 emissions.

Nippon Paper Industries has set up a target of reducing greenhouse gas emissions from product transportation through modal shift and other measures in the Nippon Paper Group Environmental Targets 2030 and has been engaged in a modal shift that switches the long-distance and mass transportation mode from trucks to railways and domestic ships. It obtained Eco Rail Mark certification as a company and for its products in the category of paper* in August 2021. This time, it also obtained the Products certification in the category of patent-coated board.

Going forward, Nippon Paper Industries will continue working to build a logistics network with lower environmental impact.
