Lucart achieves Cradle to Cradle certification

The EcoNatural line produced at the French factory in Laval Sur Vologne confirms its leadership among ecological papers

Lucart announces that it has obtained a new international circular economy certification, the Cradle-To-Cradle ™ Bronze level, for its EcoNatural line of paper towels and toilet paper produced at the Laval Sur Vologne plant in France.

The criteria for obtaining the certification are based on performance in five critical areas of sustainability: material composition, material reuse, renewable energy and carbon management, water management, social equity.

Cradle to Cradle ™ certification attests that a product’s eco-design allows it to be recycled indefinitely and is therefore beneficial to the environment at all stages of its lifecycle, from design to use and reuse. It adds to other ecological certifications already obtained in recent years, such as the EU Ecolabel certification and the FSC® certification. The Laval Sur Vologne plant also holds ISO 14001 Environmental Management System certification, ISO 50001 Energy Management System certification, Der Blaue Engel certification and PEFC™ certification.

The Cradle to Cradle ™ renewal takes place every two years, so Lucart has set a goal of improving the certification level at the next renewal. Specifically, it formulated new guidelines that will promote 100% recyclable or compostable packaging by 2025 and 100% recycled or compostable packaging by 2030. Lucart’s business model, based on circularity and innovation, combines a strong environmental commitment with unique technological skills.

“The terrestrial ecosystem must be protected, and we must safeguard the limited resources we have. That’s why we carefully assess the environmental impact of the raw materials we use, whether they are pure cellulose or paper for recycling. At the Laval Sur Vologne plant, the share of recycled paper used in the manufacture of our products is much higher (84%) than the share of virgin fibers (16%). This performance contributes positively to the fulfillment of the declared objective of the Group of reaching, for all units, 60% share of recycled paper in the production mix by 2030”, explains Alessandro Pasquini, president of Lucart S.a.s.
