Paper to get your teeth into: Unique cookbooks printed on Mondi’s PERGRAPHICA®
  • Exceptional cooking philosophies, sustainably captured on premium design paper.
  • Asado Grill Recipe Book: Rough haptics and deep colours reflect the primeval character of grilling.
  • Ayurveda Recipe Book ‘Karma Food’: Blending rich colours and a natural look on a soft surface.

The Frankfurt book fair saw book lovers from all over the world come together over the past few days, the one in Vienna is about to start. What a great opportunity to take a look at two very special publications, reflecting two culinary philosophies that are fundamentally different, yet similar in principle: The Asado grill cookbook ‘Asado – Ursprünglich Grillen über offenem Feuer’ and the Ayurveda book ‘Karma Food’. With one a celebration of meat and the other promoting the colourful world of veganism, the two books could not be more different at first glance. However, PERGRAPHICA® has helped create books that have one thing in common: the impressive synergy between optics and haptics with a mouthwatering effect.  PERGRAPHICA®, the premium design paper from Mondi, a leading global paper and packaging manufacturer, convincingly supports a multi-sensory reading experience.

Top of the range BBQ cookbook

Asado BBQ recipes take meat enthusiasts on a journey to the art of grilling, South American style. Adi Bittermann, Franz Größing, Jürgen Kernegger and Leo Gradl – the four ‘asadores’ – are all fired up about the project. The rugged beauty of grilling over an open fire is reflected in the rough haptics of the natural-coloured PERGRAPHICA® Natural Rough paper. Contrasting colours of charcoal, fire and ingredients whet the appetite for a juicy Asado steak. The cover illustration itself was clearly engraved using a heat-based tool, as though the book itself was just fresh off the grill!

Karma Food: A declaration of love for plant-based cooking

Cooking is a lifestyle and a philosophy at the same time. Adi Raihmann, the creator of ‘Karma Food’, understands this. In his book, Ayurveda, vegan and vegetarian cuisine come together to form a colourful whole, inspired by the colours, aromas and intense flavours of India. With PERGRAPHICA® High White Smooth, this zest for life is reflected on every single page of this cookbook. A premium design paper, it makes the brilliant colours shine, whilst the soft haptics pick up on the natural aspect of plant-based cooking.

The high image quality of both books perfectly demonstrates the excellent printability of PERGRAPHICA®, with both the ‘Smooth’ and the ‘Rough’ variants offering impressive print quality.

Fired up about sustainability

In order to blend content and form and create a unique reading and cooking experience, all creative forces must work together, including the authors, publishers, print production, graphic designers and experts from Mondi and its partners. Together, all participants have realised the vision with passion and positive energy, from conception right through to the perfect print result.

Meat-based or vegan delicacies, both cooking philosophies are rooted in a deep respect for nature and animals. Consequently, sustainability was a key factor when it came to choosing partners and materials for the implementation of these projects. PERGRAPHICA® came out on top for its unique sustainability profile. The entire range is produced in Austria, offers carbon neutrality as standard, meets the stringent standards set by FSC™ and EU Ecolabel, and has been Cradle to Cradle Certified® Bronze since the end of last year.
