Canfor Strengthens Market Presence Through PinkWood Acquisition

Canfor Completes Acquisition of PinkWood, Expanding Engineered Wood Manufacturing Capacity

Canfor Corporation has officially completed its acquisition of PinkWood Ltd., Western Canada’s largest manufacturer of I-joists, marking a significant step in the company’s long-term strategy to strengthen its value-added wood products portfolio. The transaction, which was originally announced on June 9, 2026, enhances Canfor’s manufacturing footprint across Alberta and British Columbia while reinforcing its position in the engineered wood products market.

Headquartered in Calgary, Alberta, PinkWood has established itself as a leading producer of engineered I-joists, supplying high-performance structural building components for residential and commercial construction projects across North America. By integrating PinkWood into its operations, Canfor aims to expand its production capabilities, improve supply chain efficiencies, and better serve the growing demand for sustainable and innovative building materials.

Commenting on the acquisition, Susan Yurkovich, President and Chief Executive Officer of Canfor, expressed enthusiasm about the addition of the PinkWood team to the organization.

“We’re excited to welcome the PinkWood operation, its management team and its employees to the Canfor family,” Yurkovich said. “The acquisition represents a strong strategic fit for both companies and supports the continued growth of Canfor’s value-added manufacturing capabilities.”

As part of the acquisition, PinkWood will continue operating under its established brand name while functioning as a wholly owned subsidiary of Canfor. Maintaining the PinkWood identity reflects the company’s strong reputation within the engineered wood products sector and ensures continuity for its customers, business partners, and employees.

The acquisition also brings approximately 120 skilled employees into the Canfor organization and adds an annual production capacity of 46 million linear feet of I-joists. This additional capacity is expected to strengthen Canfor’s ability to meet increasing customer demand for engineered wood products while enhancing operational flexibility across its manufacturing network.

The move aligns with Canfor’s broader strategy of investing in value-added manufacturing and expanding its portfolio of sustainable building solutions. Engineered wood products such as I-joists have become increasingly important in modern construction due to their strength, dimensional stability, efficient use of wood fibre, and contribution to more sustainable building practices.

By combining PinkWood’s specialized manufacturing expertise with Canfor’s extensive forestry operations and distribution network, the company is well positioned to deliver greater value to customers, support innovation in engineered wood products, and capitalize on long-term growth opportunities within the North American construction industry.

With the successful completion of the transaction, Canfor continues to reinforce its commitment to strategic growth, operational excellence, and sustainable manufacturing, further strengthening its leadership in the forest products sector.
