Metsä Tissue, part of Metsä Group and one of Europe’s leading producers of hygiene tissue papers, has successfully concluded the negotiations with the works council regarding its investment and capacity adjustment plan introduced in January 2025 in its Kreuzau mill.

As a result of the negotiations,  the total reduction of employees is 93 out of original estimation of 123 and made without compulsory redundancies. “We are firmly committed to the future of Kreuzau mill. With the jointly developed plan to realign the mill and the associated investments, we are laying the foundation for a competitive future production.

We are not only securing remaining jobs but also strengthening our role as a reliable partner for sustainable hygiene tissue papers  – today and in the future” says Tobias Lüning, SVP West, and Country Manager of Metsä Tissue GmbH. Kreuzau is one of the largest tissue paper mills in Europe and plays a central role within Metsä Group. The mill supplies customers in Central Europe with high-quality fresh fiber tissue paper products.
