Juthor Paper Manufacturing, a subsidiary of Middle East Paper Co. (MEPCO), one of the largest paper products manufacturers in the MENA region, has announced the groundbreaking of its sixth production line (TM6), its second high-capacity tissue production line in King Abdullah Economic City near Jeddah.
The official ceremony was attended by senior representatives from various government and private entities, including the Saudi Authority for Industrial Cities and Technology Zones (MODON) and the Economic Cities and Special Zones Authority, as well as senior leadership from both Juthor and MEPCO. The project, valued at SAR 345 million, will enhance Juthor’s production capacity by raising its annual output to 120,000 tons, with the new machine operating at a speed of 2,100 meters per minute.
The TM6 project supports Saudi Vision 2030 by advancing local manufacturing capabilities, reducing reliance on imports, providing high-skilled employment opportunities, and adhering to global environmental standards. ANDRITZ AG, a leading international technology group headquartered in Austria, will manufacture, supply, and install the tissue machine within 24 months.
Commenting on the occasion, Mr. Musab AlMuhaidib, Chairman of MEPCO, said: “The launch of TM6 reflects our strong confidence in the promising future of Saudi industry. Aligned with Vision 2030, this expansion strengthens our role in empowering the local manufacturing ecosystem and enhancing the Kingdom’s self-sufficiency in tissue products.” The project leverages cutting-edge technologies and sustainable manufacturing processes in line with MEPCO’s broader environmental objectives, including resource efficiency and carbon emission reduction.
Eng. Faisal Haddawi, CEO of MEPCO, added: “At MEPCO, we are committed not only to expanding production capabilities but also to delivering value, building resilience, and fostering trust. TM6 will accelerate our sustainable growth strategy and further contribute to the Saudi economy and regional markets.” Juthor reaffirms its commitment to industrial innovation and meeting the growing demand for high-quality tissue products in Saudi Arabia and across the MENA region.
